What is Kenmore Alfie? Kenmore Alfie is a voice-controlled intelligent shopper. Just tap a button and tell Alfie what you need in natural language. Alfie will find you the best products for your needs. Alternatively, you can send Alfie a text via the Kenmore Alfie app for IOS and Android.
What can Alfie fetch me? Alfie can fetch you any item from any online store or website out there. Alfie will find the best place to buy what you need based on your unique preferences, and then order it for you.
How much does it cost to use Kenmore Alfie? After you purchase the Kenmore Alfie device, using it is free. You will only pay for the products you order, no service fee or markup will be charged.
When and where is Alfie available? Alfie is available 24/7, anywhere in the US. Alfie responses are not immediate and can take 10 minutes to appear.
How does Kenmore Alfie work? You tell Alfie what you need. Alfie responds with personalized suggestions, or with follow-up questions if needed. If you like a suggestion, you approve the order and provide your payment details (first purchase only). Alfie orders the product for you and schedules a delivery or store pickup, according to your preference. Alfie will never charge you without your knowledge - it will confirm the total amount each time you place an order.
How do I tell Alfie what I need? Tap the 'Talk' button. The light ring will light up to indicate Alfie is listening. Tell Alfie what you need, speaking naturally. Tap the 'Talk' button again to send your request. Alternatively, your request will be sent automatically if you stop talking for more than 5 seconds. If you're away from your device, you can send a request from your phone. Open the Kenmore Alfie app and go to the 'Conversation' screen. Type your request in the text box at the bottom of the screen and press the 'Send' button on the right.
Do I need to talk with Kenmore Alfie in a certain way? No, you can talk with Alfie naturally, like you would to another person.
How do I receive a response from Alfie? When you receive a response from Alfie, the 'Listen' button on the device will light up. Simply tap on it to listen. If you're away from your Alfie device, you can read the response on your phone. Open the Kenmore Alfie app and go to the 'Conversation' screen. You can also view photos sent by Alfie in the 'Conversation' screen. Alfie knows that you don't want to receive the same response twice, so if you already replied to a response in the Alfie app it will no longer appear on the Alfie device. You can always view your full conversation history in the Alfie app.
Are there any technical requirements for using Kenmore Alfie? In order to use Kenmore Alfie, you will have to install the free Kenmore Alfie app for either iOS (requires iOS 8 and up) or Android (requires Android 4.1 and up). In addition, Alfie requires a wireless network connection (WiFi) that is 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g with security OPEN, WPA, WPA II.
Getting Started

First, charge your Kenmore Alfie device. To charge Alfie, plug provided power adaptor into Alfie, then plug power adaptor into a wall outlet. It takes approximately 5 hours to fully charge the device. Next, download the free Kenmore Alfie app to your phone (requires iOS 8 and up, or Android 4.1 and up) and follow the instructions on the screen.
How do I download the Kenmore Alfie app? If you have an iPhone, download the app from the App Store (requires iOS 8 and up). If you have an Android phone, download the app from Google Play (requires Android 4.1 and up).
How do I set up Kenmore Alfie for the first time? If you have an iPhone, download the Kenmore Alfie app from the App Store (requires iOS 8 and up). If you have an Android phone, download the Kenmore Alfie app from Google Play (requires Android 4.1 and up). Install the Kenmore Alfie app on your phone. When you open the app for the first time, it will guide you through the setup process.
I received an error message while trying to set up Alfie. What should I do? First, close the Kenmore Alfie app. If Alfie's light ring is still green, turn it off by pressing the 'Talk' button and the 'Listen' button on the device simultaneously for a few seconds, until the light turns off. Second, restart your wireless network router by unplugging it from its wall outlet, waiting one minute and then plugging it back in. Then, verify you have a wireless internet connection (WiFi) on your phone. Finally, reopen the Kenmore Alfie app and start the setup process again. If you still receive an error message while trying to set up Alfie, please contact us.
I don't see my wireless network on the list of available networks while trying to set up Alfie. What should I do? Alfie can connect to the following networks: 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g with security OPEN, WPA, WPA II. If this is indeed your type of wireless network but for some reason Alfie doesn't find it, you can either enter your network manually or restart the setup process. To manually enter your network, in the Kenmore Alfie app scroll to the bottom of the list of available networks and select 'Other'. Enter your network name (for example, "Danny's Wifi"), the security protocol if one exists (WPA/WPA2 is the most common), and your network password. Finally, press 'Next'. Alternatively, restart the setup process. If Alfie's light ring is still green, turn it off by pressing the 'Talk' button and the 'Listen' button on the device simultaneously for a few seconds, until the light turns off. Start the setup from the beginning by pressing 'Back'. Check if your wireless network appears now. If not, please contact us.
I received an "Alfie needs an upgrade in order to connect to this type of wireless network" message. What should I do?
To upgrade Alfie, you need to connect Alfie temporarily to a different network. Alfie will be upgraded automatically, and then you could connect it to your own network. You could do this in one of two ways: through a different wireless network, or through a second smartphone.
  • Option A: I have access to a different wireless network If another wireless network is available to you, do the following:

    1. Go to the location of the new wireless network with your Alfie device and your phone.
    2. Open the Kenmore Alfie app on your phone.
    3. If you still see the "Alfie needs an upgrade" message, press "Start over with a new network" and follow the instructions on the screen.
    4. If you see the first step of setup, just follow the instructions on the screen.
    Once setup is complete and you receive the message "Alfie is ready to fetch", allow Alfie a few minutes to upgrade automatically. A yellow light will appear on the Alfie device to indicate an upgrade is in process. When complete, return with your Alfie device and your phone to the location where you first tried to set up Alfie. Open the Kenmore Alfie app, use the main menu to navigate to the 'Devices' screen, and press 'Add New Device'. Follow the instructions on the screen to connect Alfie to your regular wireless network. You should now be able to connect successfully. If not, please contact us
  • Option B: I have access to a second smartphone If a second smartphone is easily available to you, you could open a mobile hotspot on the second phone and connect Alfie to the hotspot. Instructions how to open a hotspot vary according to your specific phone, but this option can typically be found in the phone's Settings menu. After you set up a hotspot do the following:

    1. Open the Kenmore Alfie app on the first phone.
    2. If you still see the "Alfie needs an upgrade" message, press "Start over with a new network" and follow the instructions on the screen.
    3. If you see the first step of setup, just follow the instructions on the screen.
    4. When you reach the "Select your network" step, make sure to select the mobile hotspot.
    Once setup is complete and you receive the message "Alfie is ready to fetch", allow Alfie a few minutes to upgrade automatically. A yellow light will appear on the Alfie device to indicate an upgrade is in process. When complete, re-open the Kenmore Alfie app (if not already open), use the main menu to navigate to the 'Devices' screen, and press 'Add New Device'. Using the Kenmore Alfie Device
What are the different parts of Alfie called?
What do the lights on the Alfie device mean?
Alfie's light ring will be off most of the time. This means Alfie is waiting for your requests. When it lights up, it means Alfie is doing one of the following:
Light ring configuration Meaning

Listening

Alfie is listening to you.
Whenever you tap the 'Talk' button, Alfie will start listening.

Talking

Alfie is talking.
When the 'Listen' button lights up, tap on it and Alfie will start talking. Tap again to stop Alfie.

Charging

Alfie is charging.
To charge Alfie, plug provided power adaptor into Alfie, then plug power adaptor into a wall outlet.

Loading

Alfie is loading.
It will be ready in a moment.

Setup

Alfie is in setup mode.
You should only enter setup mode to configure or reset Alfie. Enter setup mode by pressing both the 'Talk' and 'Listen' buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds.

Error

Something went wrong.
Make sure your wireless network is connected.
Why is there a light under the 'Listen' button? Alfie has a message for you. Tap the button to listen. Tap again if you wish to stop the playback.
Account Settings
Which account should I use with Kenmore Alfie?

During the setup of Kenmore Alfie, you will be asked to enter your email and password. If you already have an account in one of the following services, you should use this account for Alfie as well: Kenmore.com ShopYourWay.com Sears.com Kmart.com If you don't already have an account on any of these services, you can create a new account during the setup process, or connect with your Facebook account.

Can I use several Kenmore Alfie devices with the same account? Yes. Open the Kenmore Alfie app on your phone and select 'Devices' from the main menu. Press 'Add New Device' and follow the instructions on the screen.
Can additional household members use my Kenmore Alfie device? Yes, additional members of your household can send requests through the Alfie device. However, the device can only be attached to one account at a time.
How can I remove a Kenmore Alfie device associated with my account? Open the Kenmore Alfie app on your phone and select 'Devices' from the main menu. Press on the name of the device you would like to remove, and a menu will appear. Press on 'Remove Device' and then confirm by pressing 'Remove'.
Battery and Charging
Do I need to keep Kenmore Alfie plugged to a wall outlet at all times? No. Kenmore Alfie is a portable device that doesn't have to be plugged to a wall outlet. Just remember to charge it at least once a week. It takes approximately 5 hours to fully charge Alfie.
How do I charge my Kenmore Alfie device? Plug the provided power adaptor into Alfie, then plug power adaptor into a wall outlet. A light will appear to indicate Kenmore Alfie is charging. It takes approximately 5 hours to fully charge the device.
How can I tell if my Kenmore Alfie device is charged? Open the Kenmore Alfie app on your phone and select 'Devices' from the main menu. A battery icon appears near the name of the device, indicating battery level.
Ordering and Shipping
What forms of payment do you accept? Alfie currently accepts debit and credit cards as forms of payment.
How do I see my receipt or track my orders? Once Alfie places your order, it will send the receipt and order information directly. In addition, you can view past orders in the Kenmore Alfie app by selecting 'My Orders' from the main menu.
Can I earn and redeem Shop Your Way points when ordering products via Kenmore Alfie? Yes, you can earn and redeem points on millions of eligible products when ordering via Kenmore Alfie. Please visit Shop Your Way support center for full details regarding the Shop Your Way rewards program.
What should I do if there's a problem with my order? If there's a problem with your order, just tell Alfie. Alfie will work with customer service so you don't have to.
What is your shipping policy? Alfie shops at many retailers to find you the best product. Shipping policies depend on the retailer we order from. If you have any specific preferences concerning shipping, or if you need your order to arrive by a certain date, just let Alfie know. If you would like to pick up your order in person, Alfie can coordinate that as well.
How do I return or exchange purchases? If you would like to return the product you ordered, Alfie will help coordinate the return for you. Alfie will communicate with the retailer and help you initiate the return process.
Can I order groceries using Alfie? Alfie can order packaged goods - for example, bottled water, shampoo, diapers or paper towels. Currently, Alfie cannot order fresh produce.
Can I manage my shopping list with Alfie? Yes, you can use the Kenmore Alfie app to manage your shopping list by selecting 'Shopping List' from the main menu. Add items you would like to buy, or remove items no longer needed. We respect your privacy, therefore items on your shopping list will not be shared with our personal shoppers. If you wish to purchase an item from your shopping list via Alfie, please let our shoppers know by tapping the 'Talk' button on the Alfie device, or sending a text message from the 'Conversation' screen in the Alfie app.
Troubleshooting
When I plug in Kenmore Alfie, it doesn't work. Is there something wrong? When you first plug it in, Kenmore Alfie takes about 20 seconds to start.
While using Alfie, I receive a "No internet connection" error message on the Kenmore Alfie app. What should I do? Make sure you have a wireless internet connection and try again by pressing 'Reconnect' in the Kenmore Alfie app.
While using Alfie, I receive a "Something went wrong" error message on the Kenmore Alfie app. What should I do? Make sure you have a wireless internet connection and try again by pressing 'Reconnect' in the Kenmore Alfie app.
While using Alfie, I receive a "Web Page not found/unavailable" error message on the Kenmore Alfie app. What should I do? Close the Kenmore Alfie app, make sure you have a wireless internet connection and try again.
Alfie just said "Sorry, I didn't get that". What should I do? Alfie didn't hear you. Try speaking a little bit louder.
Alfie's responses only appear in the app, not the device. What should I do? Alfie's responses are sent both to the device and the app. Alfie knows you don't want to receive the same response twice, so if you already replied to a response in the Alfie app it will no longer appear on the Alfie device. You can always view your full conversation history in the Alfie app.
What should I do if Alfie has stopped working? Alfie's battery probably needs to be charged. Plug the provided power adaptor into your Alfie device, then plug the power adaptor into a wall outlet. If this doesn't solve the problem, or if Alfie displays unexpected behavior, you can restart the device. Press both the 'Talk' and 'Listen' buttons simultaneously for a few seconds until the light ring turns green (indicating setup mode), then double tap the 'Talk' button.
How do I perform factory reset for the Kenmore Alfie device? In order to perform a factory reset, press both the 'Talk' and 'Listen' buttons simultaneously for a few seconds until the light ring turns green (indicating setup mode), then press both buttons again for 10 seconds. The device will perform a factory reset and you will need to set up the device as if it were a new device.
